Geum
Grecian Rose
The Greek name for this genus, which means “to give a taste of,” only hints at the flavor of happiness it brings to our garden. The cheerful flowers are held on sturdy stems above attractive basal clumps of fuzzy leaves. Given good drainage and ample moisture, these robust perennials thrive with minimal care.

Nimbly elevated by slim flexible stems well above a snug green clump, sprays of ample, semidouble tomato-red flowers with slightly ruched petals perform a saucy months-long dance. Tantalizing butterflies and flower arrangers alike, full-toned flowers become a lush counterpoint to the energetic and easy-care clump of fuzzy, pinnately arranged leaves. Plant steadfast ‘Rubin’ alongside Stachys ‘Silky Fleece’ for a mesmerizing tango.
