Chocolate Cosmos
Cosmos
Cosmos atrosanguineus (P-0564)
Each 9.75
Paying tribute to the Greek word “Kosmos” meaning beauty in orderliness, this tender Mexican perennial’s spreading tubers sustain a pollinator-friendly haven of chocolate-scented, slightly cupped crimson-maroon blooms with yellow-orange centers and a velvety finish. The sumptuous dahlia-style posies sashay above branched, 12 in. long red-tinged stems plus attractive green basal foliage that’s pinnately divided into broadly lanceolate and often lobed leaflets. Undaunted by deer, bunnies and occasional dry conditions, easy-care Chocolate Cosmos adores moderately moist, well-drained niches, detests heavy wet soil and begs a thick mulch, sunny indoor window sill or a frost-free spot for its tubers when temperatures drop below 30°.
Blooms June–September
