Sand Cordgrass
Spartina
Each 10.75
A handsome rarely offered native, Sand Cordgrass is endemic to the sandy ocean beaches and shores of the lakes, canals and streams in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Narrow tight-set reddish panicles on upright stalks coupled with wiry ultrathin green leaves define the dense fine-hewn fountain-shaped clump, whose long-lived evergreen presence can grace perennial plantings, pond peripheries and low maintenance sweeps. Renown for its stellar performance in rain gardens and bioswales, this warm season Poaceae family member heroically conquers soil that contains clay, sand and salt, plus wet or dry conditions once established.
