Cordyline australis
‘Red Sensation’
at Digging Dog

False Dracaena

Cordyline

Cordyline australis ‘Red Sensation’ full sun  partial shade  new plant

Radiating from dracaena-like stalks, ‘Red Sensation’s narrow, up to 18 in. long foliar blades actually do achieve sensational purple-red hues in a bright sunny spot. An opulent fountain is sculpted as the upper foliage grows erect while the lower leaves arch out and gracefully droop. A showman specimen for the Mediterranean border or a container, this tropical yet hardy Australian plant prevails over frost, dry conditions and little care, and should be cut back when young to encourage multiple trunks.

Size: 4' high x 3'–4' wide; hardy to zone 8.

Customer Comment:

“Ordered a selection of plants from Digging Dog earlier this year: campanula, ajuga, columbine, etc. All looked great, with healthy root systems. They've all settled in well and are thriving. I will order from them again.”
