Andromeda

Andromeda polifolia ‘Blue Ice’ full sun  partial shade

Though the cosmopolitan species roams the northern reaches of North America, Europe and Asia, this hard-to-find intensely colored selection will charm your corner of the world. The astonishing needle-fine, yet tough, frosty blue leaves garb a slow spreading mounded habit that’s iced with clustered pink buds and delicate white floral urns. Flourishing in cool moist, somewhat acidic crannies and sulking in hot humid ones, ‘Blue Ice’ makes a well-groomed evergreen stand-out for stone work, a low border or a container.

Blooms March–April

Size: 18" high x 2' 0" wide; hardy to zone 2.

Ornamental Grasses: Autumnal Garden Stars, Plant for Outstanding October Oomph!

Celebrated headliners of the late show!

Offering superb versatility, ornamental grasses become poetry in motion on gusty days. They are best situated so their fluid shimmering inflorescences, bathed in amber, sable or smoky rose and purple shades, are backlit and set aglow by the afternoon sunlight. Most look fantastic in fresh or dried arrangements, while others produce welcome seed heads that birds adore. Be sure to browse our online selections of ornamental grasses.
