Geranium sanguineum ‘Album’ at Digging Dog
May–August.
Cranesbill
We’re talking about hardy Geraniums, not the better-known, anything-but-subtle Pelargoniums. True Geraniums are sturdy yet refined, with five-petaled flowers borne on dainty stems close to the palmately-divided leaves.
Their spectrum of colors, from cool to electric, is rivaled only by their ability to create soft mounds and flowing carpets of lush foliage in ordinary garden soil. We plant a succession of varieties to always have some in bloom from spring to fall. Our selections are easily grown and will rebloom after flowering if lightly trimmed. Most die back in winter. Geranium sanguineum ‘Album’
With an air of elegance, ample, loosely fashioned mounds host soft, dark green leaves and exquisite pure white blooms. Described by five spaced petals, the large, cup-shaped beauties are lifted on branching stems above deeply divided foliage, which in autumn wears colorful orange, rust and red streaks.
A long-lived floriferous perennial best planted en masse, this Geranium is well suited for the front of the border where its snowy accents can carpet the ground beneath Euphorbia ‘Jade Dragon’ or Hydrangea ‘White Dome’ all summer long.
Size: 10" high x 3' 0" wide; hardy to zone 4. Geranium sanguineum ‘Album’ (P-1267) Each $8.00
