Erigeron speciosus ‘Pink Jewel’
at Digging Dog

Oregon Fleabane

Erigeron

Fleabane

With a carefree guise that belies their stalwart nature, Erigeron promises to embellish any little spot: cracks and crevices, window boxes, between paving stones or a border’s foreground. Happiest in well draining, even sandy soils, these vigorous, no-nonsense perennials parade daisylike blooms for months on end and can easily endure dry conditions.

Erigeron speciosus ‘Pink Jewel’ full sun

In an ebullient display, ‘Pink Jewel’s thin, closely set orchid-pink petals abundantly converge around golden yellow centers. From a bed of round-tipped basal foliage, the sturdy, branching stems clad in smaller, lance-shaped leaves bolster 1-½ in. wide, asterlike blooms which are perfect for cutting. Extremely hardy and undemanding, this floriferous, western U.S. native can be partnered with yellow flowering Achillea ‘Marmalade’ for a collage of cheerful flowers

Blooms June–August.

Size: 18"–2' 0" high x 2' 0" wide. Zone 3/4.

Perennials that cool down a hot summer day, refreshing foliage, soothing blooms, last chance to take advantage of our summer sale!

Bring sparkling beauty to your August plantings

Perhaps you’re looking for some soothing floral or foliar accents on a hot summer day! We’ve found that snowy white, clear pink, pale yellow and deep blue blooms coupled with silver, bluish green or emerald-toned leaves become refreshing counterpoints to warmer-hued flowers. They offer a place where your eye can rest, much like cleansing your palette when tasting wine. These shades meld the spicy-colored flowers of many Achillea, Crocosmia, Dahlia, Geum, Helenium, Kniphofia, Rudbeckia and Salvia.

Our next guided Saturday Strolls is August 19th., followed by September 16th & October 7th. We hope you’ll come visit us this summer.
